
About Carlos Diaz Silversmiths

Carlos Diaz Silversmiths is a family business owned by
Carlos and Carmen Diaz. Carlos started his business in 1958 in Tucson, Arizona
making his own unique style of jewelry for the public.
In 1982 Carlos moved his location to 2815 N. Campbell Ave.
Tucson, Arizona. There he works daily continuing to create exquisite pieces
for his customers. Other employee’s include Carmen Diaz, (Carlos’s wife),
Antonio Baker his stepson, Maria Teresa Creighton his step daughter
and Jose O Campos a master silversmith.
In addition to the custom jewelry we make, we also carry a
large variety of Navajo, Zuni, Hopi, and other Indian jewelry. These items are
handmade by Native American artist and use only natural materials. We also carry
some manufactured products such as charms, basic chains, etc. in both sterling
and gold.
Here at Carlos Diaz, we also do many jewelry and hollowware
repairs. We stand behind all of our products 100%, and encourage you to call us

Carlos Diaz History
Carlos Diaz, born in Bogota Colombia fell in love with his
craft at an early age. At 14, Carlos became the apprentice of his uncle who was
a silversmith. Later, Carlos learned the art of repousse
and chasing from a Parisian Master silversmith named Gaston Avenel.
At 23, Carlos worked in Ecuador for a few years making
chalices for the church and hollowware for the embassy’s. In 1953 Carlos came
to Tucson and began piecework for other jewelers. By 1958 Carlos had opened his
own business and a few years later had become incorporated. In 1978, Carlos
graduated from the Gemological Institute of America, and holds a degree in
gemology.
Now, after 50 years Carlos is still creating his own
designs using silver, gold, turquoise, diamonds and a variety of other
gemstones. In addition, Carlos is also well known for his custom work. Carlos
and his silversmiths also produce special hollowware such as Chalices, baby
cups, and other items such as letter openers, key chains, money clips, etc.
Carlos also has a unique collection of genuine southwest Native American
Jewelry.
Over the years Carlos has made many friends, and now he is
very happy to be able to share his unique jewelry talents with new friends and
customers via the World Wide Web.
